The Psychiatric Resident

The whole of psychiatry, explained simply.
Appendix 1  ·  last updated February 2021

The whole curriculum. Every line of it.

This is the Royal College of Psychiatrists' own syllabus, in the College's own numbering, from 1.1.1 to 13.3.7. Nothing is summarised away and nothing is left out. Each line opens into the teaching: the plain-English version first, then the numbered points, the flashcards, the notebook, and the book on the College reading list where you can check it.

Section 14, Research Methods, Statistics, Critical Review and Evidence-Based Practice, is published by the College as a separate syllabus and is built here separately. Confirm current syllabus and regulations with the College before you sit.

One line per item. Open the ones you need.

You can leave this page at row 3.5.1.9 and come back to row 3.5.1.9. That is deliberate. Nobody reads a curriculum front to back, but everybody can finish a list if the list stays where they left it.

The syllabus is free. All of it.

Every line, every plain-English explainer, permanently. The drilling underneath is the course.
